Nahir Albright wants to fight Top Rank lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason next and believes he would be the perfect opponent to “destroy” and shake off the rust after a year out of the ring.
Mason’s vulnerability
Top Rank likely won’t allow Albright to fight Mason (16-0, 14 KOs) after his recent performance against Yohan Vazquez on November 8 at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. Vazquez knocked down Mason, 20, twice in the first round and could have finished the job had he not suffered a leg injury.
Mason came back in the second round to knock out Vazquez, but at that point he was already fighting a one-legged guy. The fight showed that Abdullah does not have a great Chin and will need more development.
Albright (16-2, 7 KOs) has not fought since his clash against 2020 Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis on October 14, 2023. He initially lost the fight by a close 10-round majority decision. It was later overturned by the Texas State Athletic Commission and changed to a no-decision due to Keyshawn testing positive for marijuana.
Keyshawn made a big deal about having her win taken away from her and then said she would buy a house to make herself feel better. He was lucky not to lose because Albright staggered him in the eighth and wore him down with the pressure of the final four rounds of the contest.
Albright exposed Davis In that fight he was not the fighter that some had thought, but it did not surprise hardcore boxing fans, who had seen him lose to Cuban Andy Cruz at the 2020 Olympics. They see it as an exaggerated job.

“I want to smoke Abdullah Mason. Nobody is criticizing Abdullah Mason. I want to fight with him. His chin is questionable,” Nahir Albright told YSM Sports Media. “He might fight, but I would destroy him. I know it would destroy him. Top Rank needs to make that fight.
“Knock off the rust so we can get Gervonta before he retires. So I took him (Mason) down. I rub the rust off my ring and then face Tank. Right now. “It’s not a lie,” Albright said.
