Liquid AI has raised $250 million to develop a more efficient AI model

Fluid AI aims to build general-purpose AI systems powered by a relatively new type of AI model called a fluid neural network. Fluid neural networks consist of “neurons” controlled by equations that predict the behavior of each individual neuron over time. The “fluid” bit in the term “fluid neural networks” refers to the flexibility of the architecture; inspired by the “brains” of roundworms, fluid neural networks are much smaller than traditional AI models and require less computing power to operate.

Fluid AI aims to develop fluid neural networks tailored for applications such as e-commerce, consumer electronics and biotechnology. As part of AMD’s investment, Liquid AI said it will work with the chipmaker to optimize its models for AMD’s GPU, CPU and AI accelerators.
