Sarah Michelle Gellar clears the air—sort of—in light of her awkward reaction to Jennifer Love Hewitt joining to I know what you did last summer restart.
Gellar, 47, raised eyebrows on Wednesday (December 11) when she made a strange face after being asked if Hewitt, 45, would return for the much-anticipated reboot. “I have nothing to do with it,” Gellar said Other on Dexter: Original Sin red carpet, threw her hands in the air and then left.

“Aspiring actors please take note: this deer-in-the-headlights reaction is perfect when you’re excited to see so many old friends in one project, but you’ve stupidly forgotten what an NDA means once this month,” she captioned a photo of the director’s chair . on set and referring to a previous faux pas.
Gellar by accident shared the same image when she visited her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.on set in November.
She later said Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that she “discovered they haven’t released any pictures from the set yet” and didn’t announce that filming was going on when she posted the original image. “I got into a little bit of trouble,” Gellar admitted during the stop Living with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday, December 10 teasing: “Oops! My bad!”
As for her Friday post, Gellar didn’t mention it Hewitt by namebut she showed some love to the actress via social media after Hewitt officially confirmed she would be back IKWYDLrestarting.
“It’s never too late to come back.” Julie James Returns,” Hewitt he wrote via Instagram on Friday. “I know what you’re going to do next summer!@IKnowWhatYouDidLastSummerMovie.”
Gellar then reposted Hewitt’s announcement via her own Instagram Stories.
Gellar and Hewitt starred as Helen Shivers and Julie James in the 1997 thriller alongside Prinze, who portrayed Ray Bronson. (Gellar and Prinze, 48, met on the set of the movie and eventually tied the knot in 2002.)
While Hewitt and Prinze reprized their roles in 1998 I still know what you did last summerGellar’s character was killed off in the original.
Rumors later surfaced that Hewitt was responsible for the death of Gellar’s character, which she denied during a recent episode of “I’ve never said that to Tommy DiDario before” podcast.
“I was 18. They didn’t take notes from the script. We were all in the experience together, you know, figuring it all out and everything. And I’m rooting for her and Freddie,” Hewitt said during Tuesday’s episode, denying that she had the power to essentially fire Gellar. “I think it’s the cutest thing in the world that they’ve been married for 100 years and have kids.” It’s like adorable. So it was really fun to see all that stuff.”
