Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively both are Hollywood A-listers but are determined to give their children a normal life.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Posted on Friday, December 13th Deadpool the actor opened up about his family.

Reynolds and Lively share four children together: daughters James, 9, Inez, 8, and Betty, 5, as well as son Olin, who they welcomed in early 2023.

“We try to give them as normal a life as possible,” Reynolds told the paper.

“I try not to force a difference in their childhood versus mine or my wife’s,” the actor continued, reflecting on both his and Blake’s upbringings and how his perspective on raising children has changed.

“We both grew up working class and I remember when they were very young saying or thinking like, ‘Oh my God, I would never have had a gift like that when I was a kid’ or, ‘I would never have had the luxury of getting get takeout,’ or whatever,” Reynolds said.

“Then I realized it wasn’t really their bag of rocks,” he said, adding that his children began to show their own values. “They are already so in touch with gratitude and understanding of the world that they have a strong sense of empathy.”

Reynolds explained how his kids and Lively make him feel secure in his parenting style.

“Those are the things I would think (I would suggest) we’re doing a good job of — if our kids can empathize with other people and other kids,” he said, but acknowledged that regardless, his kids will grow up with a different childhood , than what he had.

“Yeah, it’s different,” he told THR. “When I was a kid, you’d suck it up, run out of the house and walk off into the sunset, which I just can’t imagine now.”

Reynolds also addressed the recent news that he will be taking a break from filming.

“I’m still working in the sense that I’m writing, whether it’s for Boy Band or something else that I can’t talk about yet. I don’t have an ‘idle hands are the devil’s plaything’ problem,” he said. “If I’m not working, I don’t want it all the time. Boredom is also a very underrated asset these days. We as a society just play ourselves to death 24/7. The best ideas I’ve ever had have always been born out of boredom, where your mind can wander and get into that state of being and not doing.”
