Danny Masterson appealed his rape conviction after being sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.

Masterson’s attorney, Cliff Gardnershared a An introductory brief overview of 246 pages on Wednesday, December 18, claiming that there were several errors that “violated” the actor’s “confrontation and due process rights.”

Gardner also issued a statement citing “two fundamental errors in Danny Masterson’s conviction.”

The first flaw was that “the trial was rife with erroneous judicial decisions that distorted the jury’s view of the evidence against him.” And in the second, the attorney argued that “there was an overwhelming amount of exculpatory evidence that was never presented to the jury.”

Gardner stated that “the appeal represents only one part of Danny’s questioning of his convictions. In March 2017, four women claimed this Masterson, 48, sexually assaulted them in the early 2000s. A fifth woman came forward in December 2017, claiming that while she was dating the actor, he “repeatedly raped her.”

Masterson maintained his innocence and in January 2021 pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape. His first trial began in the fall of 2022, which ended in a mistrial. Masterson returned to court in the spring of 2023 when he was convicted of two counts of rape. It was handed over in September 2023 30-year prison sentence. He appealed two months later; it was rejected in January.
