The fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime has not freed all of Syria’s prisoners.
The Al-Sina prison houses more than 5,000 detainees in the northeast of the country, under Kurdish control.
These prisoners – including some British – are alleged fighters and supporters of the so-called Islamic State group. It is said that the majority were loyal to him until their last resistance in 2019.
The BBC’s senior international correspondent, Orla Guerin, was given rare access to visit the prison.
