Luigi Mangione, the man accused of murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthcare Brian Thompson, will reportedly be housed in the same New York prison as Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Mangione, 26, arrived in New York from Pennsylvania on Thursday, Dec. 19, to be charged with federal murder. If convicted of the crime, he could face the death penalty.

According to CNN and ABC News, Mangione is now in federal custody and will be held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn — the same prison where Combs, 55, has been held since September.

Mangione and Combs also have another connection; pair share the same lawyerMarc Agnifilo. Agnifilo appeared in federal court with his wife Karen Friedman Agnifilo to inform on Thursday Judge Katharine Parker that they will represent Mangione.

Meanwhile, Combs has been behind bars since his arrest earlier this year.

In March 2024, several of Combs’ homes—including residences in Miami and Los Angeles—were raided by Homeland Security in connection with a sex-trafficking investigation. In September, Combs was arrested in New York and charged with sex trafficking, extortion and transportation for prostitution. He denied all the allegations against him. More than 20 civil lawsuits have been filed against Combs since his arrest, and he has denied all charges.

After Diddy was arrested, Agnifilo said during an appearance on CNN Source with Kaitlan Collins that his client is not guilty. “He is innocent,” Agnifilo said. “I believe he is innocent. I believe he is innocent of the charges,” he said. “He will go to court. And I believe he will win.”
