The third member of the LockBit ransomware gang has been arrested


On Friday, US prosecutors in New Jersey announced charges against 51-year-old Rostislav Panev, a dual Russian-Israeli citizen accused of being the main developer of the LockBit ransomware gang. Panev is currently under Israeli control and faces extradition to the United States.

LockBit is one of the most prolific ransomware gangs, accused of carrying out data-stealing cyberattacks on thousands of companies around the world, including in the US, and believed to be responsible for at least $500 million in ransom payments alone. Authorities identified and seized LockBit’s infrastructure in a February operation, but LockBit made a brief comeback as the head He was named as Dmitri Khoroshev by UK and US authoritiesremains free.
