While San Diego Comic-Con gets most of the national and even international attention, southern nerds tend to flock to an entirely different fan convention: Dragon Con, a five-day non-stop celebration of all things nerdy. Sure, it’s full of the usual gimmicks like panels and sales rooms, but everything has the booze, the daze of an endless party. So many actually Battlestar Galactica Reboot icons Edward James Olmos and Aaron Douglas felt inspired to tell a room full of fans about how the latter actor accidentally exposed his penis to a sound engineer in a particularly raunchy rant.
This Battlestar Galactica the blooper story began with a basic explanation of how the actors had to have microphones attached to their costumes in order to hear their dialogue. The wire was usually pulled through part of the actor’s clothing and connected to a power source in a discreet location. For example, on the actor’s shoes for a scene where the shoes will not be visible. None of this would be a problem for the poor sound engineer if Douglas didn’t have a funny tendency to commandeer on set.
Battlestar Galactica Blooper
Douglas began his part of this story by saying that a popular fan question he gets at conventions is whether he wears boxers or briefs, to which he happily replies “neither.” However, this strange admission quickly became relevant as the actor described it as late Battlestar Galactica file; appeared on the hangar deck in his familiar orange jumpsuits, setting the scene for an unintentionally hilarious mess. He ran the sound cord down his leg and Graham – a particularly tall sound engineer – knelt on the ground preparing to attach the power supply to the actor’s shoe.
It was all business as usual for all the cast and crew, and Douglas continued to chat with various people while a microphone was attached to him. For reasons he never fully explained, the actor suddenly decided to strike a Superman pose, causing his jumpsuit to slip. For most actors this would be only mildly embarrassing, but because this Battlestar Galactica the actor hated wearing underwear, exposing his entire naked body, creating a stupidity that is too spicy to even share with fans.
Adam saves the day
Incredibly, Douglas didn’t realize something was wrong until he felt his penis touch what he described as a “bonk.” Belatedly a very disturbing thought occurred to him, “that shouldn’t hit something…that shouldn’t hit something warm and fleshy.” As the rest of the cast and crew began to focus on what had happened, Douglas looked down to see poor Graham looking horrified by both the proximity and recent contact with the actor’s penis.
On Battlestar Galactica It was a special moment that could have been quite traumatic for everyone involved. Fortunately, the former showrunner offered the perfect punchline to immediately release any tension in the room. To the amusement and horror of Douglas, Edward James Olmos summed up exactly what happened in the funniest way possible: “Aaron just kicked the sound guy!”
During the Dragon Con panel, hearing his own punchline retold by Douglas (complete with a funny imitation of the older man’s gravelly voice), Olmos giggled and couldn’t resist holding his fingers inches apart to indicate that the other actor’s…um. ..The Viper wasn’t that big. Instead of taking offense, Douglas responded with a joke Seinfeld: “I was in the pool!” From beginning to end, this story shows a strangely funny chemistry between them Battlestar Galactica cast, even if it is a piece of nonsense so raunchy that even the lords of Kobol will never reveal it to you.
