Chainsaw Man is Behind and He’s Going to the Movies

while Chainsaw Man’s manga has been plaguing fans for the past few years, we haven’t heard much about him being pretty good anime adaptation in sufficient time. Studio MAPs has been pretty busy, but announced last year that Denji and Pochita would be returning not with a new season, but with a movie that premiered at Jump Festa this weekend.

Based on the manga’s Reze arc, the film finds Denji excited to finally meet his boss, Makima. Not long after, he crosses paths with a cute girl named Reze, who he seems to like dating, and the young man (chainsaw) can’t help but be smitten. Unfortunately, Reze’s intentions aren’t as pure as they seem, and he’s a Devil just like her. So Denji must fight his new lover and save Japan from the chaos he wants to cook. And part of that will involve riding a shark in the air because… well, it is Man in Chains, sometimes it’s just part of the job.

When MAPPA’s work looks good, it does well, and this movie is no exception. In between Chainsaw Man’s first season and Cutsthe studio constantly pushed itself—often literally and internally troubling ways– and you can see the results of that effort here. The Cuts It’s expected to drop in 2025, which will be a pretty big year for MAPPA: in addition to this, his other film Rose of Versailles falls and will be released Lazar For adult swimming, the original series Zenshu, and another season Eating Fire in Another World with My Absurd Skills.

As for when Chainsaw Man’s MAPPA, properly get a second season, did not say. But for new seasons Jujutsu KaisenRanma 1/2, and Heaven of Hell is coming, hopefully it won’t be far behind.
