“It has to be the one!” Hearn demands Fury vs Joshua after Usyk defeat

Eddie Hearn is undeterred by Tyson Fury’s loss last Saturday night to Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh and says the Gypsy King proved he is STILL in the “Peak of his powers. and wants to talk to Turki Alalshikh about making the next fight between Tyson and Anthony Joshua.

The last day of payment

Hearn wants to organize two fights between AJ and Fury, one in Wembley and another in Riyadh. Trying to sell a fight between Fury and Joshua to the public, with both coming off losses, seems desperate, as if the two are trying to get one last payday from the fans.

British fans would still buy the fight in large numbers, but it would not be popular in the American market, as fans would see it as a money grab between two washed-up fighters who never beat solid guys during their careers. Both were manufactured fighters who made a career beating a 40-year-old Wladimir Klitschko. That was the highlight for Fury and Joshua.

They are already rich and it seems pathetic to have this fight now. It’s too late in the game without them coming back for some solid wins against top-tier heavyweights like Martin Bakole and Daniel Dubois.

Hearn says Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) didn’t look “poor” and saw the fight as a draw. However, Fury lost a 12-round unanimous decision and fans didn’t think he had won, nor did they see him at the “peak of his powers.” He looked below average for him, but he’s never been great, even in his best moments.

The “only” fight

“Tonight it’s Usyk-Fury, but the reality is there’s only one fight for Tyson Fury, and that’s Anthony Joshua,” Eddie Hearn told DAZN Boxingreacting to Fury’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night.

“It is the most important fight in the history of British boxing. Everyone will want to see it. By the way, that wasn’t a Tyson Fury that looked finished. That was not a flat performance. That wasn’t a bad performance. He didn’t seem shy. It didn’t seem like his punch resistance was in question like we talked about,” Hearn said, trying to put a positive spin on Fury’s inept effort in his loss last night against Oleksandr.

“So, I think Tyson Fury is potentially still at the peak of his powers. He’s just not good enough to beat Oleksandr Usyk tonight, but for me, AJ against Fury is at Wembley (stadium in London), and then he comes back here (for the Fury-Joshua rematch) for the Riyadh season. “I’m going to pressure His Excellency (Turki Alalshikh) to fight, but that’s another fight maybe for another day,” Hearn said.

Fury looked finished last night against Usyk and would lose to many other heavyweights in the division. If Hearn doesn’t make it to the Joshua-Fury fight now, it will be too late because neither of them will be able to beat the top five heavyweights.

Usyk didn’t look very good last night, but he was still too good for Fury. As for Joshua, he can no longer take a hit and will only be safe as long as Hearn protects him with his matchup.
