AirLight fits With iOS 13.0 and above (including iPads), Android 8.0 Oreo and above, and Bluetooth 5.0. It offers 12 presets tailored for four different modes: Standard, Bright, Curly and Curly. Each preset can be adjusted and saved for future use, so once you’ve locked in your settings, they’ll always be ready. There is also a fully customizable mode. Another small but nice feature is the app’s usage tracker, which records how much you’ve used the dryer. It sounds like a no-brainer, but knowing when to clean the filter can extend the life of the product (more on that later).
The app is clearly in its early stages, but it works well and leaves plenty of room for updates. I can’t help but imagine how much better it could be with features like heat styling tips from the experts, quick video tutorials, or even curated inspiration boards for different hairstyles. L’Oréal laid the groundwork here and I’m interested to see how they build on it in the future.
In an industry where many gadgets are destined for the landfill, the AirLight Pro dominates. L’Oréal claims that the AirLight Pro motor is built to last, extending the life of professional-level use for up to 10 years, which is about two hours a day, five days a week. For anyone dealing with cheap hair dryers that barely last the season, this is one promising proposition.
What really sets the AirLight Pro apart is its repairability. L’Oréal has been making spare parts since early 2025. AirLight Pro also features a filter cleaning alert when cleaning is required. Frequency varies depending on air quality, daily dust and other particles (ie, hairspray). If the filter reaches a critical state, the dryer shuts down until you clean it to avoid damaging the motor. I haven’t gotten to that point yet, so I can’t vouch for how well it works, but I appreciate the idea of a blow dryer with longevity in mind.
At $475, the AirLight Pro isn’t cheap. But it’s only $45 more than the viral Dyson SuperSonic, and it has a lot of advantages—it’s quieter than the Dyson, dries my hair faster, and is more customizable with an app. And most importantly, if it breaks after the warranty expires, you can get it repaired. If I’m going to spend nearly $500 on a hair dryer, I want to make sure I only do it once. The tailored experience of AirLight Pro is worth it.
