The story of Deku and friends may be over, but Bones isn’t My Hero Academia yet. During Jump Festa this weekend, the animation studio gave fans of the superhero manga a nice surprise: its spinoff series, vigilantes, is getting its own anime in April.
If you haven’t read it, vigilantes It comes from Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court and also pulls double duty as a prequel set five years before Deku’s story. Its protagonist is Koichi Haimawari, a college student with the power to travel on any flat surface. He doesn’t have a Hero license, but that hasn’t stopped him from saving people. Koichi, along with high school student Kazuho Haneyema, finds his life changed when he is rescued by the vigilante Knuckleduster, who decides to take the pair under his wing. The manga concluded in 2022, but it has developed its own fanbase that enjoys and hopes to enjoy it as much as the mothership series. Vigilantes to get their adjustment for a while.
with My Hero anime ending, it makes sense to save it for Bones vigilantes very close to the chest so far. Its short teaser shows that the spirit of the original series is very much intact, showcasing the powers of three extraordinary heroes with their unique energy. The world My Hero has always been one of his biggest draws, and this show offers a different perspective that his main series doesn’t really provide. How do “unselected heroes” like Koichi, Kazuho, and Knuckleduster fare in a society full of beloved protectors across the country? We’ll see when My Hero Academia: Vigilantes although it premieres in April 2025, the final season of the main anime does not yet have a release window.
