The new president, Donald Trump, confirmed it reports Sriram Krishnan, until recently a senior partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), will serve as senior policy advisor for artificial intelligence in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Trump said that a statement Krishnan will “help shape and coordinate artificial intelligence policy across government with the President’s Council of Science and Technology Advisors.” And a post At X, Krishnan said he will work closely with former PayPal COO David Sacks, who Trump recently called the cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence “czar.”
“I am honored to serve our country and ensure America’s continued leadership in artificial intelligence,” Krishnan wrote. “Thank you for this opportunity, Donald Trump.”
An entrepreneur and VC, Krishnan previously led product teams at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo! (disclosure: parent company of TechCrunch), Facebook and Snap. He and his wife Aarthi Ramamurthy gained additional fame in 2021 as hosts of the podcast The Aarthi and Sriram Show (then called The Good Time Show).
Krishna has a close relationship with billionaire Elon Musk, with whom he worked to rebuild Twitter (now X) after Musk bought the company in 2022. Musk heads the company. Department of Government Efficiencya policy group that recommends government restructuring and federal spending cuts.

Krishnan was named a senior partner at a16z in February 2021 and was selected to lead the firm’s London office in 2023, its first location outside the US. He left in late November.
Krishnan shared some thoughts on current AI trends opinion piece last year in The New York Times. It called for a “fundamentally different mechanism” for websites to “exchange” value with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other AI-powered chatbots.
