According to Claire Kittlewife of the San Francisco 49ers star George Kittlethere is still reason for optimism in the midst of a very disappointing season for the franchise.

The 49ers officially saw their playoff chances evaporate on Sunday, Dec. 22, one season removed from winning the NFC and leading the Kansas City Chiefs to overtime in February’s Super Bowl LVIII.

In an exclusive interview with My Weekly on Wednesday, Dec. 18, just days before the 49ers’ playoff aspirations were all but gone, Claire, 30, gushed about camaraderie in a locker room in San Francisco.

“We have such a great group of guys and they all really love each other and go outside of football,” said Claire, who spoke to us to promote Kittles’ collaboration with Zenni Optical. “They just love spending time with each other and keeping that positive light.”

A disappointing season for the San Francisco 49ers has gone from bad to worse. “They are competitors, professional athletes. They want to win and they want to be successful,” Claire said. “So yes, of course there is a degree of disappointment. But you just take it as a learning experience and try to really make the most of the time you have left because every year is so hugely different.”

She continued, “Teams change, you know? You don’t know if you’ll play with your friends again or even be on the same team. As for George, he’s really trying to focus on it and make it a good experience for everyone.”

The 49ers were officially eliminated from playoff contention when the Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams, both ahead of them in the NFC standings, won their games on Sunday. The Niners then lost to the Miami Dolphins 29-17 on Sunday afternoon.

San Francisco has two games left: Monday, December 30 at home against the Detroit Lions and Sunday, January 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

While football season didn’t go exactly as planned, Claire thanked the scheduling gods for allowing it to happen few — who got married in April 2019 — to spend the holidays at home.
