Instagram is testing a way to see content from your missed friends. The social network has started showing unseen Story highlights from a user’s mutual followers at the end of the Stories panel, the area at the top of your feed where you see your friends’ Stories.
“We’re always working on new ways to help people connect in Stories, and we try to push the latest highlights to the bottom of the tray with a small group of people,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.
The feature was first spotted by a social media expert Ahmed Ganem.
Since Instagram is full of things like reels and sponsored posts, it’s easy to miss updates from people you really follow. The social network’s latest testing feature tests a way to make sure you’re not missing out on authentic content from friends and family.
Meta notes that users will be able to see previously unseen Story Highlights from the previous week.
You’ll only see Story highlights that don’t appear when you scroll through all the current Stories in the tray. This means that if you’re following a group of people and don’t always get to the end of the Stories bar, you might not see highlights.
It’s worth noting that the feature won’t show standard Stories, which disappear after 24 hours, but only Story Highlights, which are curated Stories that users have saved to their profiles.
