Getty Images (2)Jodie Turner-Smith claimed that her estranged husband, Joshua Jacksonhe owes her child support and spousal support in the midst of their divorce.
Turner-Smith, 38, alleged in new court documents obtained by My Weekly on Monday, Dec. 23. Jackson, 46, has not paid her any child support since reports broke in October 2023 that they had parted ways. She is asking him to pay her $8,543 per month back to the date of her first filing. (TMZ was the first to report the news.)
The Bad monkey the actress also asked that Jackson pay her $28,641 a month in spousal support while their divorce is still pending. (She originally asked the court to take spousal support off the table, but has seemingly changed her mind.)
He asks the court to order Dawson’s Creek alum to pay her $250,000 to cover her attorney fees and other costs as they continue to hash out their legal rift.
Turner-Smith argued that Jackson “he promised to always support me” and “assured” her that he “wouldn’t have to worry about our daughter’s financial security if we ever split up because he said he understands how hard life can be for a black woman and a single mother.”
In the documents, she claimed Jackson made more money than she did during their four-year marriage and accused him of racking up legal fees by dragging out their divorce.
Turner-Smith argued that Doctor Odyssey the star “breaks” his “promise” to financially protect her and theirs 4 year old daughter. (The former couple welcomed their child in April 2020.)
Our confirmed in October 2023 that Turner-Smith filed for divorce from Jackson after four years of marriage. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and gave September 13, 2023 as the separation date.
Turner-Smith, who married and Mighty ducks actor in 2019, she said in opening documents that she was seeking joint custody of their child.
Despite hitting a bump in their court proceedings, Turner-Smith has been positive about her experience with Jackson over the past year.
“It’s an adjustment period for anyone when they break up because you’re used to being with your child all the time,” she said. Charm in an interview published in October. “But no one will give you a manual. Everyone is trying to figure it out. Every parent has a different life, and especially if the reason you’re splitting up is because you have different lives, it’s just further complicated by how you’re going to co-parent.”
The following month, Turner-Smith said Fun tonight that co-parenting means thinking about “your children” all the time. “When you’re parenting in the public eye, everything you do — eventually there’s a record of it,” she explained. “You don’t want your kids to read anything and think anything.”
She added: “It’s just about – centering the kids and that’s all you can do. Nobody does everything right, but at least when you know you’re focusing on the right thing, you know you’re going to do your best.”
Jackson — who walked Lupita Nyong’o from autumn 2023 to October of this year — kept quiet about his and Turner-Smith’s pending divorce. In September, he shared a rare glimpse into his life as a girl’s father.
He exclusively speaking Our in September that he could not choose the best for parenthood. “It’s not a part; it’s the whole thing,” Jackson blurted out. “It’s every day.” It’s a joy.”
Jackson noted that his daughter influences every aspect of his life. “I have a 4-year-old child. He is at school. I need to work here and I want to be like dad,” he explained. “That’s really honestly my top priority.
Being close to home is what drew the actor to his latest role Doctor Odyssey. “I really wanted to do something where it was lighter, where I didn’t have to go home every night like a headscarf, brooding and heavy,” he added.
