The former couple finalized their divorce on Thursday, Dec. 19, according to court documents obtained by the couple My Weekly. Gilbert, 49, filed for legal separation from Perry, 59, in 2019 after five years of marriage.
In her original divorce papers, obtained from OurCiting “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, Gilbert listed the separation date as August 13, 2019. At the time, Gilbert filed for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s son, Rhodes, now 9. (Gilbert also shares a son, Levi (20 ) and daughter Sawyer (17) with her ex Ali Adler.)
“I mean, it’s life, man,” Perry said Our about the breakup in January 2020. “Life happens and you witness it. You know, this is a moment in life and people will witness it and I won’t. … I’ve had an incredible journey and I’m still on an incredible journey.”

She added: “Things ending doesn’t mean they’re over or that they’re bad. You just evolve to a different place and that’s how I look at it.”
Gilbert and Perry were declared legally separated in October 2021, the same month they entered into a custody agreement for their son. The two were granted joint custody of Rhodes and split time with him 50-50, in court documents obtained by Our. The duo agreed that neither of them would pay child support, except to deal with financial issues and spousal support.
News of the couple’s divorce being finalized comes two months after Gilbert filed for an uncontested annulment on Oct. 24.

Almost six months after them tied the knot in March 2014, Gilbert announced that she was pregnant with her and Perry’s first child. After she refused to have the cinder block broken on her stomach during The TalkOn the week of “Face Your Fears” in September 2014, Gilbert updated her co-hosts and viewers on her pregnancy news. The announcement came as a surprise to her classmates, who jumped out of their seats and hugged Gilbert excitedly. She she gave birth to Rhodes in February 2015.

Perry exclusively said this in November 2019 Our that she and Gilbert have no plans to continue expanding their family. “Sara can’t have any more children,” she said at the time. “That part is done. We barely booed this one.”
He noticed that he loved children, Perry said Our: “I always do panels. I always try to teach children. My artist friends always bring their 13-year-olds to my studio, like, “OK! Do your thing!” So it’s fun. There are always children. There’s always someone who needs you.”
