Watch Boston Dynamics’ electric Atlas return

A little early holiday surprise from Boston Dynamics this week, as an electric Atlas wearing a Santa suit zips by. The action takes place in about 13 minutes new videoshowing yet another trick in the humanoid robot’s arsenal.

It should be noted that – unlike humans – a robot moves backwards not necessarily more complicated rather than walking. However, roboticists primarily focus on useful tasks such as locomotion. Still, it’s impressive to see just how resilient Boston Dynamics’ new robot is — and it managed to keep its Santa hat on the whole time.

The electric Atlas follows in the footsteps of its hydraulic predecessor skill debuted in 2017. Recently, Unitree’s humanoid revealed itself own gymnastic skills.
