Dozens of people have died after a passenger plane crashed with 67 people on board in Kazakhstan, local officials say.
The country’s Emergencies Ministry said there were 25 survivors.
The plane, operated by the Azerbaijan Airlines company, caught fire when it fell near the city of Aktau. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Kazakhstan Airlines flight J2-8243 was en route from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia. Reports say it diverted due to fog.
A video verified by the Reuters news agency shows the plane heading towards the ground at high speed, with the landing gear lowered.
Seconds after it appears to attempt to land, a massive fireball erupts.
There were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board the Embraer 190 plane, the Ministry of Transportation reported.
The people on board were mostly Azerbaijani citizens, but there were also some passengers from Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Aktau airport is open and operating normally, officials said.
The BBC has contacted Kazakhstan Airlines and Embraer for comment.
