Trump announces new ambassador nominations


President-elect Trump has nominated Somers Farkas and John Arrigo for ambassadors.

If confirmed, Arrigo, vice president of Arrigo Auto Group in West Palm Beach, Florida, would serve as ambassador to Portugal.

“John is a highly successful businessman in the auto industry and a golf champion. For over thirty years, he has been an incredible business leader in West Palm Beach and is respected by all,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. . “I have known John for a long time. He will do an incredible job for our country and will always put America FIRST.”

Arrigo has been a longtime Trump associate, according to a Business Insider report in 2021.

Farkas, a model and philanthropist, would serve US interests in the island nation of Malta.

Farkas previously served on the Trump Commission on White House Scholarships.

In his announcement, Trump said he “has raised millions of dollars for charities, including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Alzheimer’s Associate (sic), the Lighthouse Guild, the Women’s Foundation of New York and, as a trustee of the New York City Police Foundation, where he has always BACKED THE BLUE.”
