Being the Christmas Grinch isn’t just reserved for the movies – and some of your favorite TV shows even have notorious characters for their distaste for everything Santa.
The Big Bang Theory introduced it via Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), who had an experience that made him distrustful of the holiday season.
“You asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I said, ‘My pop-pop,’ because that was the year my grandfather died,” Cooper revealed on the hit CBS show while playing Dungeon & Dragons a game with the character of Santa Claus. “I missed him and wanted him back. I got Lincoln Logs instead.”
Spectators got more views at Cooper’s origin story in Young Sheldon prequel. The franchise has since expanded to Georgia and Mandy’s first marriage and an as yet unreleased spinoff in production at Max.
On SeinfeldGeorge (Jason Alexander) did everything to keep Festivus a secret from Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Kramer (Michael Richards). The idea actually came up one of the show’s writers and became a fan favorite episode.
“That’s the point. Seinfeld stories, the real ones are always the best. Sometimes there’s a nuance in reality that’s just perfect,” executive producer Jeff Schaffer he said Uproxx in 2017. “We could have sat in a room for a billion years and never would have invented Festivus. It’s crazy and hilarious and so fun and so disturbing. It’s amazing.”

JD (Zach Braff) found that Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) is not a fan of Christmas, but no tangible reason was ever given.
Not only George’s father Frank (Jerry Stiller) did not support Christmas, instead creating Festivus so that other like-minded people had a special day to celebrate their own faith.
Once again, viewers were left with no proper explanation for Sue’s Christmas aversion. Instead, several scenes over the years have shown him going out of his way spoil the holidays for everyone.
