Whether you’re a skincare stalwart or a newbie, two words you’ll hear over and over again are ‘double cleansing’. The process is simple, it literally consists of double cleansing your face oil-based formula followed by a cream or gel cleanser. Oil attracts oil (aka sebum), and cleansing with an oil-based cleanser effectively removes makeup, dirt, and other pore-clogging impurities. However, this is assuming you apply the correct dual cleaning solution.
After trying dozens of makeup remover balms, I finally found my holy grail: Cleansing Balm Dr. Althea Pure Grinding — and it’s less than $30 on Amazon. Few things are as satisfying to me as removing makeup with a cleansing balm, and the sorbet texture of this pick is heavenly. My makeup melts off in seconds, but it’s the comforting hydration my skin feels afterwards that keeps me coming back.
Dr. Althea is a K-beauty brand known for its affordable yet effective skin care solutions. While some makeup remover balms are full of cheap carrier oils that can leave skin looking like a greasy donut (and not in a good way), with this pick from Dr. Althea I never smell an ounce of greasy residue. Only a quarter of the amount is enough to effectively dissolve make-up or sunscreen. And yes – it’s safe to remove eye make-up too.
As someone with sensitive skin, it doesn’t take much for my face to look noticeably irritated. The simplest ingredients can aggravate my naturally pink skin, so trust me, this is the only cleansing balm I’ve seen a noticeable improvement with. This is due in part to madecassoid – a plant-based anti-inflammatory ingredient that soothes irritated skin while offering plenty of anti-aging benefits.
I could go on and on about the other skincare benefits of this product – like it’s a cruelty-free, vegan formula that’s also paraben and fragrance-free – but I’ll leave it at that. If you don’t remove makeup with a cleansing balm or are tired of your current skincare line, this K-beauty pick is a total winner. Make-up and impurities won’t really come off unless you double cleanse, and this is key to ensuring your skin can absorb serums and other facial treatments.
I don’t believe in spending hundreds just to find a formula that works. There are so many amazing skincare heroes that are under $50, including my all-time favorite, the Cleansing Balm. Try it for yourself – you won’t be disappointed!
