Besides all the great action scenes and creature scares, one of the best things Buffy the Vampire Slayer was all romantic melodrama with our favorite characters. in a way BuffyThe most naughty couple were Xander and Willow, childhood friends who only realized their feelings for each other after they both started dating other people. This led to a messy affair that seems to have spilled over into the real world: according to Willow actor Alyson Hannigan, she and Xander actor Nicholas Brendon once got together.
Alex And Willow Hook For Real
Revealing it’s naughty Buffy the couple’s real-life connection came when Hannigan appeared on the Bravo TV show Watch What Happens Live. During this show, host Andy Cohen gave the actor a very provocative command: “Tell us one Buffy an on-set hookup that we didn’t know about yet.” In response, she gave an equally provocative answer: “I think Nick (Brendon) and I might have kissed once, like, off camera.
For Buffy fans who root for Willow and Xander as the show’s naughtiest (and cutest) couple, this tea is understandably surprising. After all, the show made it clear that their characters weren’t meant to be together… not only did Willow later reveal that she was a lesbian, but Xander met the love of his life (and almost wife… curse you, season 6) Anya in the same season . That’s why there aren’t nearly as many fans who wanted these actors to get together as, say, fans who wanted to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and her brooding beau David Boreanaz got hitched in real life.
However, few Buffy fans can deny that Hannigan and Brendan’s characters make a cute couple during their naughty little romance. Of course, part of that came from the show’s clever writing, but part of it came from the cast’s killer chemistry. It sounds like that chemistry led to a kiss and maybe more: In an interview with Cohen, Hannigan followed up the bombshell confession of kissing Brendan in real life with a snappy statement: “He might have had a breast or something.
In a complicated world Buffy gossip, learning that the most unlikely on-screen couple had a brief off-screen connection is relatively healthy. Gossip is sometimes a bit nastier. For example during Watch What Happens Livetold Cohen that her co-star and title character Sarah Michelle Gellar grew to hate the show during Season 3. She emphasized that it was because Gellar was balancing those acting duties with a burgeoning big-screen career and the pressures of fame, but her words fueled years-old rumors that Hannigan and Gellar had an ugly and ongoing feud.
Speaking of Buffy couples, while Alyson Hannigan and Nicholas Brendon have only teamed up once, viz How I Met Your Mother the actress ended up quite seriously with another actor from the time of killing vampires. Hannigan eventually married Alexis Denisof, who starred in the film Buffy as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce before becoming a regular on the spinoff show Angel. Hannigan seems to be emulating Willow in one important way, from frolicking with her on-screen partner to marrying a classy and proper Watcher: she’s very rarely naughty.
