IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois believes Tyson Fury should retire after losing to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch last Saturday night in Riyadh.
Dubois doesn’t say it clearly, but Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) looked old and faded, being trained for 12 rounds by Usyk. The Ukrainian talent never had to go out of second gear, besting the Gypsy King in front of a silent crowd at the Kingdom Arena.
After the fight, Tyson didn’t say whether he would retire or not, but he will obviously return to the ring for the two fights against Anthony Joshua in 2025. There is too much money to be made in those ‘Battles of Britain’. matches to reject that.
Tyson Fury’s net worth is estimated at $160 million, and while he doesn’t need to continue, he’s sure to add another $100 million or more to that total.
“Fury has had a great career. I think it’s time for me to leave this,” Daniel Dubois told Exit secondsin reaction to a very old looking Tyson Fury getting punched once again by Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night.
It would be great if Dubois could send Tyson away in style by fighting him. This would allow the young talent to use the old lion to increase his star power. If the Gypsy King wanted to help, he would allow Dubois to scalp him.
Fury’s fans denied his defeat, thinking he had done enough to deserve victory. They are fooling themselves. He lost and looked terrible the entire time. Usyk hit him with three-punch combinations when he tried to attack him late in the fight and did little else.
It’s been YEARS since Fury beat a semi-decent fighter. The last guy with an ounce of talent that Gypsy King beat is Deontay Wilder in their trilogy match on October 9, 2021. That victory is very shaky, given that many believe that Fury received a long count in the fourth round when he fell. Deontay isn’t a great fighter, but that’s Fury’s best win in the last three years.
It has been smoke and mirrors with Fury for years, being a mediocre fighter, and his gullible fans have lapped him up, believing him to be the best. He’s been fooling them for the last 14 years of his career, and they haven’t realized it.
