Will Give His Witches All New Songs For Goodness

That was just a month ago It’s bad began to take the world by storm and it wasn’t long before we learned that its second half would pass Bad: For Good. Universal isn’t ready to reveal anything from the sequel, but that didn’t stop co-host Cynthia Erivo from hinting at some of the changes in the next film, especially the music.

In a recent appearance Diversity Awards Circuit Podcast, Erivo talked about his approach to finally playing Elphaba, the famous Wicked Witch. One thing she mentioned was working closely with Stephen Schwartz, the composer of the play and film, to create an entirely new song for her character. Without giving anything away, he says, “even the title will move you. I don’t know, are you ready for this? When we filmed it, the cast and crew were crying. (…) I hope the audience is ready – this is a song that represents who Elphaba is.”

You may have forgotten Schwartz He said there will be a pair of new songs in 2022 Wicked’s the second half “(to meet the demands of the story).” The first film’s musical changes were mostly to characters or settings that made it no longer a stage musical, but the songs were otherwise identical. Giving Elphaba and Glinda some new tunes keeps and makes things fresh for movie and OG fans alike Bad: For good feel more like an event. And it will make the new songs catchy when the film finally gets its own reading version.

But Bad: For good must come out first—and will do so on November 21, 2025. If you’ve been waiting to watch the first movie at home, good news: this is it digital hits On New Year’s Eve.
