Krysten Ritter has fond memories of his time on the short-lived sitcom Don’t trust B– in apartment 23especially about working with a costar James Van Der Beek.
“I love James. The Dancing with the stars things still make me laugh,” Ritter, 43, said exclusively My Weekly while talking about his new film Sonic the Hedgehog 3. “We got along so well. We had such a great time together.” (Van Der Beek’s character in the series competed on DWTS several years before doing so IRL in 2019.)
Van Der Beek, 47, played a fictional and augmented version of himself on the ABC series, which ran for two seasons from 2012 to 2013. Ritter played Chloe, the show’s titular roommate Dreama WalkerJune and friend Van Der Beek.
Reflecting on the show, Ritter said Our that her “absolute favorite comedy thing I’ve ever done” was the episode where her character pretended to be an editor People magazine, during which she used her power to put Van Der Beek on the cover and hit an employee on both sides of the face with both hands, which she called a “smackwich”.
“That episode, that’s a good refresher,” she said. “I watched that episode maybe a year ago and I was like, ‘That’s honey.’ This show was so ahead of its time. It was so well written. It was so much fun. I really enjoy playing the character.”
Ritter has a special place in his heart for several of his past projects, besides Don’t believe B–. “I’m so lucky to have been in some really great things. I am so lucky. I’m so grateful,” she gushed. “I don’t know if one is more than the other, but obviously. Jessica Jones it is big. It’s like an everyday thing, but Breaking Badit’s really up there too. Two great shows that I am very proud to be a part of.”

Her last role as director Rockwell v Sonic 3 is a memorable one for the actress as the film will be one of her first projects that her five-year-old son Bruce will see. (She shares her son with her longtime partner Adam Granduciel.)
“He was about 15 months old and I played a big scary mean witch (in Night notebooks) and I was practicing some of my lines on him and he was laughing and he was on set and he saw me in these big costumes,” she shared. “And now, the kid is obsessed with Halloween and I don’t know why. We wonder why, because he was exposed to all these fun, over-the-top scary things. So that’s the only thing he saw.”
She continued: “I have some little Jessica Jones action figures so she knows about them Jessica Jonesbut he never saw any of it. So this will be the first thing he’ll be able to see of my work, which is really exciting.”
