Actor Marc Blucas he used to be honest repairs his farm in Pennsylvaniawhere is his mother in law Dayla Haddondied on Friday 27 December.
“You know what’s amazing, our house was built in 1711, you know, before George Washington was even born,” joked Blucas, 52, during a 2016 interview with Hallmark’s. Home and family. “It’s a way to stay creatively stimulated when I’m not shooting and working.”
He added: “We wanted to be closer to family so we moved back to the east coast to be with them. It’s the only place in the United States that has this kind of architecture with old stone barns and old stone houses.”
Blucas and his wife, Ryan Haddonmoved to Pennsylvania from California in 2012 after three years of marriage. They also welcomed their eldest daughter together around that time. (Ryan, 53, also shares two older children with her ex-husband Christian Slater.)
In addition to renovating the property, which offered all sorts of “projects for life,” Blucas and Ryan adopted a number of four-legged friends.
“We have 15 chickens, two rabbits, a dog, cats – wildlife is (off the charts),” My Life with the Walter Boys star burst at the time, a year after they welcomed their second daughter. “We see (fox and deer) all the time. We accommodate them all. In fact, my wife (and I) had to make a new rule. … We were working on the main building and my wife comes home with the chickens and I’m like, ‘Where are we going to put them, honey?'”
Blucas also often highlights their renovation projects on social media.
“When we bought our old house, the list of things that needed to be done was overwhelming,” he wrote via the medium Instagram in January 2023. “I haven’t owned a tractor yet and frankly, it wasn’t on that list. He needed the money for other things. But I remember my dad saying, ‘You can’t have a farm and not have a tractor.’ My old man was never so right.”
Blucas added, “As my DIY projects and historic home design and restoration business grew, I grew and added to my equipment collection. From something I thought I didn’t need to something I really couldn’t live without. I am currently rebuilding the stone walls of the courtyard around the barn.”
Dayle died at Blucas and Ryan residence on Friday after a suspected carbon monoxide leak. She was 76.
“The New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company was also on scene and found high levels of carbon monoxide in the property,” the police report said. “Two paramedics were taken to Doylestown Hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a Solebury Township police officer was treated at the scene. This tragedy is currently under investigation by the Solebury Township Police Department.
Dayla is survived by Ryan – her daughter with ex-husband Glenn Souham – and her four grandchildren.
“The bright light that is Dayle has gone out in this earthly realm. I have no doubt that it shines somewhere as bright as ever, where it is most needed,” Ryan wrote via the medium Instagram later on Friday. “She was a woman in her power, yet soft and attentive to everyone. Deeply creative and curious, gifted with beauty inside and out. Always kind and considerate.”
