Fedotowsky, 40, explained the Monday, Dec. 23, episode Kaitlyn Bristowe‘with “Off the Vine” podcast that she was “so sick” while hosting a travel show called First Look and eating different cuisines. At the event for Bachelor in New York, Fedotowsky began discussing her struggles with Allemand.
“I tell her how I feel, she says, ‘You should try being pescetarian. I have been a pescetarian for years. I feel so good.” Which means just eating fish and stuff. I was like, ‘OK,'” Fedotowsky said. “And so we have dinner here and then, like 10 days later, he dies.
After appearing on Jake Pavelka‘with season 14 Bachelor in 2010, along with Fedotowsky, Allemand died by suicide at the age of 29 in 2013.
“Then I thought, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to be pescetarian for two weeks,’ like that dinner we had,” Fedotowsky said. “And when that happened, every time I went to have a bite of meat or thought about it, I couldn’t because I was thinking about Gia.
Fedotowsky continued, “I haven’t had a single bite of meat since that dinner I had with her, about 14 years ago, 13 years ago, and I’ve been a vegetarian ever since.”
The a former Bachelorette she explained that she hadn’t “completely told the story” until now. “Kind of like I said, like, briefly in an Instagram story here or there, but that’s the reason for today,” she said.
Fedotowski, who went on to marry Kevin Manno in 2017, she explained that her husband had further cut meat out of his diet. (Fedotowsky and Manno, 41, share a daughter Molly, 8, and son Riley, 6.)
“My husband, when I met him, was a full-on meat eater, and then we watched some documentaries and at that point he became straight up vegan,” she said. “It’s not now because we live in the south and it’s harder to find things.
Recalling her friendship with Allemand Fedotowsky, she explained that the two reconnected after the show.
“Actually, we kind of hit the nail on the head. Bachelorbut then they got together after whatever, which says even more about the type of person he is,” Fedotowsky said, calling Allemanda “so sweet.”
