Allen, 28, scored a rushing touchdown during the first half of the team’s game against the New York Jets on Sunday. It’s an athlete’s 65th career touchdown, tying the Bills’ franchise record. Thurman Thomas he is the only other Bills player to reach the same milestone.
After Allen carried the ball into the end zone, the devoted Bills fans began raucous “MVP” chanton social networks shots. Other TV viewers noticed the subtle tribute to Allen’s actress fiancé Hailee Steinfeld.
“CBS plays Hailee Steinfeld song going commercial after Josh Allen rushes for TD,” one fan wrote via X .
Another added: “Love the little nod from Hailee Steinfeld after the Josh Allen TD.”
During the broadcast, shortly before the commercial break, an orchestral excerpt of one of Steinfeld’s songs was played.
Allen has been dating Steinfeld, 28, since 2023. He proposed last month during the Bills’ bye week.
“I was very nervous. I think I was most nervous about you hearing about the proposal,” Allen said Hawkeye alum in the December 6 issue of her “Beau Society” newsletter. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Then the song came on several times throughout the day and I teared up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
Allen popped the question at sunset as he stood under a rose-covered arch overlooking the body of water.
“I said, ‘I couldn’t wait any longer.’ I said, ‘I can’t wait to start a family with you,'” Allen recalled. “I said your full name and asked you very nicely. I said please.”
Of course, Steinfeld accepted her beau’s proposal.
“You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun came out,” Allen added at the time. “It’s an incredible feeling to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and funny and happy.”
In the newsletter issue, Steinfeld also admitted that she couldn’t stop crying during Allen’s big moment.
“All the happy tears have barely dried,” Steinfeld wrote in the newsletter’s introduction. “Whenever we tell the story, look back at the photos, or even say, ‘We’re engaged’ or ‘We’re getting married,’ I start to cry. … Although I can’t wait to tell you more about day a the things we planI’m not quite ready yet. I have to hold it close for a little while longer.”
