Jane Gaudreau she shared her emotional reaction after her grandson Tripp was born just four months after Tripp’s father and Jane’s son Matthew Gaudreau killed by a drunk driver.
“Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop’s hearts are overflowing with love for you, Tripp Matthew,” said Jane via her Instagram story on Sunday, December 29, she also referenced her husband, Guy. “We are so incredibly proud of you and your mom and I know your dad is too!” 💙.”

Tripp is the first child for Matthew and Madeline, who married in July 2021.

Matthew and his older brother, Johnnythey were hit and killed by a drunk driver while riding bikes in Oldmans Township, New Jersey on August 30. Johnny was 31 and Matthew was 29.
Katie Gaudreauthe youngest sister of the brothers, who was to be married the day after Matthew and Johnny were killed, also shared her excited reaction to Tripp’s birth.
“Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Auntie Katie loves you, mommy and daddy TOO much,” Katie commented on Madeline’s Instagram post announcing his arrival.
The entire Gaudreau family was by Madeline’s side throughout her pregnancy, including Madeline’s baby in October.
“We celebrated Matty, Madeline and Tripp’s baby shower today,” Jane said via Instagram October 12. “I can’t wait to get to know you Tripp Matthew and tell you all the amazing stories about your amazing dad and Uncle John.💙❤️.”
Johnny’s wife attended the shower, Meredith Gaudreauwho announced she was nine weeks pregnant with the couple’s third child at a memorial service for the brothers in September.
Johnny and Meredith are the parents of a daughter Noahnow 2, and a son Johnnynow 10 months.
At the funeral, Madeline discussed how she would do it to keep Matouš’s memory alive for their unborn son.
“Matt will be around his son for the rest of his life,” Madeline said. She added: “I am so grateful that God gave us a child, little Matty, to run through life and carry on his legacy. Tripp will know how much his father loved him, and I promise to do all the things we talked about with him.”
Matthew was due to celebrate his 30th birthday earlier this month, which Madeline remembered with a thoughtful note.
“Happy birthday to the best husband and father 🤍,” Madeline wrote via Instagram December 5th. “The moment I met you, I instantly knew you were the one. As I celebrate you today (and every day), I am more and more in love with you and honored to be your wife. John should have friends who play all day, double the Oreos and a nice glass of whiskey for you. 💙🦋 I love you and I can’t wait to kiss your cheek again.”
