Nvidia has completed the acquisition of Run:ai, an Israeli startup that helps manage and optimize AI hardware infrastructure.
As part of the merger, Run:ai said the software, which currently only works with Nvidia products, will be open source, meaning Nvidia competitors such as AMD and Intel will be able to adapt it to their own hardware.
“We are eager to build on what we have achieved so far, expand our talented team, and expand our product and market opportunities” Run:ai he said Bloomberg said in a statement. “Open-sourcing the software will allow us to extend its availability to the entire AI ecosystem.”
Nvidia announced intends to acquire Run:ai in April. At the time, sources told TechCrunch that the price tag was $700 million. But the deal ran into regulatory hurdles. The European Commission and the US Department of Justice have started work separately investigations On whether Nvidia’s acquisition will harm competition.
