former president Jimmy Carter and wife Rosalynn Carter built quite a family over the course of their 77 years old marriage.
In 1946, the couple agreed and welcomed a total of 22 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jimmy and Rosalynn welcomed their oldest, John William “Jack” Cartera son followed in 1947 James “Chip” Carter in 1950 and a son Donnell Jeffrey “Jeff” Carter in 1952. their daughter Amy Carter, completed the family in 1967.
“We have a big family now. We have 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for a total of 38. So we try to keep our family together and just enjoy family life,” Jimmy said during a July 2015 interview on CNN’s Conducting with Jake Tapper.
Jimmy entered hospice care in February 2023, months before his 99th birthday. Nine months later, Rosalynn end-of-life care began and she died in November 2023. Jimmy for his part, died in December 2024 at the age of 100 years.
