Chevy Chase told Saturday Night director Jason Reitman that he should be embarrassed by the movie

Chevy Chase had a few choice words about Saturday Night Live original film, Ssaturday night.

Director Jason Reitman shared Chase’s reaction to the film in a recent episode Dana Carvey and David Spade‘with “Fly on the Wall” Podcast.. Carvey, 69, who set the scene for the story, joked, “Chevy loves to say things you shouldn’t say, to the point where he can go where he wants.”

Reitman, 47, began by knowing Chase, 81, “my whole life” and growing up as friends of his children. “So Chevy comes to see the movie and he’s there with (his wife) Jayne and they’re watching a movie,” he explains. “And he’s in the group and then he comes up to me and pats me on the shoulder and says, ‘Well, you should be embarrassed.’

The remark drew laughs from both Carvey and Spade, 60, the latter of whom said, “That’s exactly Chevy. You couldn’t have written it better. How funny.”

Reitman shared his story shortly after his fellow director Chris Columbus he said Vanity Fair that he dropped out of work in 1989 National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation after meeting Chase.
