Morrell’s mission: dismantle “Robocop” Benavidez in the Las Vegas showdown

David Morrell says WBC interim light heavyweight champion David Benavidez is a “Robopolice” who can’t dance and has “nothing” going for him in his next fight on February 1 in the main event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) sees Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) as an unathletic robotic fighter who can’t move and couldn’t knock out Caleb Plant in their fight last year. He feels he will have no problem neutralizing his offense, which requires his opponents to stand still so he can stand and throw punches in groups.

Morrell’s mission

It will be interesting to see if Benavidez can handle the power of Morrell, 26, in this fight because Ronald Gavril knocked him down in the 12th round of their first fight in 2017. Many boxing fans think Bebafvidez lost that fight, so there was a revenge . Benavidez also struggled in his last fight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

“It is no secret to anyone that Benavidez is Robocop. That’s all. Watch Benavidez vs. Plant. It was 12 rounds. “This fight revealed secrets,” David Morrell told Premier Boxing Championsletting fans know that David Benavidez is a robot and fought Caleb Plant.

“I’ve never fought Plant before, but I don’t think Plant had too much power for Benavidez. He’s a big guy. He is also stronger. So, if you have good legs, train hard, have power and everything, Benavidez has nothing for you now.

“I can dance. I have movements. Benavidez doesn’t know how to dance. That’s it,” Morrell said.

What Benavidez was in the past when he campaigned at 168 against smaller, older fights ready to be suspended for deconstruction no longer exists. Now he’s fighting at 175 and forced to face high-level opposition. So far, Benavidez hasn’t looked good in this new weight class, and there’s a good chance he loses to Morrell via knockout on February 1.

There is a lot at stake for both fighters in this clash. The winner will fight for the undisputed light heavyweight championship against Artur Beterbiev or Dmitry Bivol. The loser will start over and reach the end of the line.

Given the enthusiasm and huge push PBC has put behind Benavidez all these years, they will bring him back quickly and, if possible, try to schedule a rematch with Morrell.
