MSNBC political analyst Eddie Glaude Jr. argued during a conversation on the network Monday that hate, greed and selfishness were at the center of President-elect Donald Trump’s political movement.
“So this is a really important point, right? In the sense that you’ve always had these three components and Ronald Reagan was able to balance them in interesting ways. And then we have the plutocrat here, right? In Elon Musk, right? Right? The greed, you know, the attraction, the promotion of their interests, and we have right-wing populism, right-wing populism that is sometimes expressed in terms of an emphasis on the American worker, but it takes the form of xenophobia, is needed in the form of nativism, takes the form of hate,” Glaude said, noting that the three elements of the modern Republican Party are corporatist, libertarian and nativist.
MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace He emphatically agreed with Glaude during the conversation and argued that understanding Trumpism was essential to defeating it.
“So we have the collision of greed and hate right in front of us and that is at the heart of Trumpism, of MAGAism. It has always been greed, it has always been selfish, it has always been hate and now it is on display,” Glaude said.

Glaude encouraged people to understand the fissures in the Trump movement, as he and Wallace discussed disagreements among party members over H-1B visas.
MAGS Online figures discussed after Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, co-chairs of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), shared their support for H-1B visas for skilled workers.
But another faction of Trump’s base, led by Steve Bannon, is against H-1B visas. Bannon called the visa system a “scam” that “takes away American jobs and brings in those who essentially become lower-wage indentured servants.”
Trump has said supports H-1B visas and acknowledged using them on some of its properties.

Others have lashed out at Trump and his supporters before the end of 2024, including former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
Lemon called Trump supporters a “cult” and asked bluntly, “How stupid and dumb are they?”
Lemon called out to his followers of Trump as “dumb idiots” and mocked his “stupid MAGA brain,” during a episode of the don limon show.

“You’re so fucking stupid and you deserve it. You deserve it because you’re so fucking stupid,” he said. “Yes, I revel in your stupidity.”
