The worst tweets of 2024

Social media has always been full of bad ideas, terrible analogies, and downright stupid observations. But with Elon Musk taking back Twitter at the end of 2022, it looks like things are going from bad to worse online. To mark the demise of the once great social media platform, it’s only fitting that we present a collection of some truly awful tweets from 2024.

Some of the tweets are funny, some are weird, and some are just lies. We couldn’t bring ourselves to share the most politically extreme and gory tweets that have appeared on X over the past year, even though such tweets technically fall into the “bad” category. Musk has finally created a safe space for Nazi mentions and snoff films, as anyone who still tries to use the site can attest to.

To be clear, this list is far from comprehensive. There are too many bad tweets to count. But here’s a snapshot of some particularly bad tweets from the past year. Here’s hoping for better tweets in 2025. But we will not hold our breath.

Musk donated to a candidate. And that boy was named Donald J. Trump, the once and future President of the United States of America. The billionaire donated 277 million dollars to the (as we know) 2024 election.

In another tweet a few months later, Musk denied donating money to Trump. The tweet was eventually deleted after it was revealed that Musk had donated hundreds of millions to Trump.
