When you hear that, you probably think of things like the Mission: Impossible movies, which feature him as a hero who saves the day through a series of death-defying stunts. However, on one memorable occasion, the legendary actor starred as a charismatic yet haunting villain, and the world of high-octane thrillers was never the same. We’re talking about Michael Mann’s classic Minorand if you want to see Tom Cruise like you’ve never seen him before, you can now stream the movie on Netflix.
A Hitman Thriller unlike any other
Minor is a film that revolves around two characters: a friendly taxi driver who dreams of starting his own limousine business and a psychopathic hit man who needs a ride. The two are soon locked into a bizarre evening that veers from murder to intrigue and back again, each gleaning crucial insight into what makes the other tick. This eventually leads to a game of cat and mouse with only one bloody winner in the end.
This Tom Cruise movie has a lot going for it and it’s worth streaming this title Netflix just to see this well-known hero of the silver screen play a truly chilling villain. His victimized taxi driver plays Jamie Foxxand his sparkling chemistry with Cruise forms the beating heart of this unpredictable thriller. Other main actors in Minor includes Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark RuffaloJavier Bardem and Jason Statham.
In addition to all the on-screen talent, he is also titanic the talent behind the camera to breathe life into this neo-noir nightmare. It is led by Michael Mann, a visionary director who stands in the background Miami Vice show and movie as well as more classic movies like Heat and Ali. On Rotten tomatoesthe film has an 86 percent critical rating, with critics generally praising Mann’s instantly recognizable cinematography and Tom Cruise’s amazing heel as the villain (seriously, his performance alone is worth streaming on Netflix). Audiences were more or less in line with critics, and the Popcornmeter rating is 84 percent.
In addition to critical and commercial success Minor it also took home several prestigious awards and was nominated for even more… winning the British Academy Film Award for Best Cinematography and the AFI Award for Ten Best Films. In addition, Tom Cruise was nominated for Best Villain MTV Movie Awards and received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actor (the film also notably received nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Action or Adventure Film). As for Jamie Foxx, his performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
