Lumen, one of at least nine U.S. telecommunications firms reported to have been taken over by the Salt Typhoon hackers, said the Chinese hacking group is no longer on its network.
Lumen spokesman Mark Molzen told TechCrunch that an independent forensic analysis confirmed the company had removed Chinese actors from its network, adding that there was “no evidence that customer data was accessed” during the Salt Typhoon breach.
Lumen’s approval follows US telecom giants AT&T and Verizon confirmed to TechCrunch they also maintained their networks after their debacle. T-Mobile, another Typhoon Salt target, said last month that there is still no evidence of hackers on its systems.
AT&T and Verizon said a small number of high-profile customers’ communications were accessed. US officials he said last week It added that “fewer than 100” people were targeted in total, most of them high-ranking US officials and politicians based in Washington.
