Army Hammer looks back on accusations of cannibalism which effectively ended his Hollywood career four years ago.
In early 2021, Call me by your name he was an actor accused of rape exand various unverified direct messages detailing vivid sexual fantasies were attributed to him. Hammer vehemently denied the rape allegations and stated that his sexual encounters were consensual. LAPD investigation claims closed in May 2023 and the actor was not charged.
An episode of the “Your Mom’s House” podcast she hosts will appear on Wednesday, January 1st Christina Pazsitzy and Tom SeguraHammer admitted it was a “wild time”.
“Covid was happening, people were locked in their apartments, people were unhappy,” Hammer, 38, said. “All this was happening. The world seems to be falling apart. And people were deeply unhappy with their own lives. And then there’s this salacious story where this actor wants to murder and eat people, and suddenly everyone’s like, ‘Oh, this is a lot more fun to focus on than the fact that I can’t leave my living room.’ Everyone said, ‘Let’s jump on this story.'”
He continued: “I think I was in full panic mode.” There would be articles in the Punjabi Times about how I was a cannibal and all that. I think in March 2021 I was the fifth most searched person on Google in the world. And it was all negative.”
“All of a sudden you’re standing there naked in front of the world and all your inclinations or deviations are being judged by the world,” Hammer added, appearing to take ownership of at least some of the graphic messages attributed to him. time. “That’s hard.
After shooting to stardom after his role in Social network and other big blockbusters, Hammer said he had trouble maintaining his clean Hollywood image. He was Hammer at the time married with Elizabeth Chamberswith whom he has two children, daughter Harper (10) and son Ford (7). He said his behavior on social media was in some way a reaction to how he felt.
“I think somewhere deep down I wanted to get caught. So I didn’t relate to the image of me that was in public. Like, ‘Look at them, they’re like the Ralph Lauren family. They have the perfect life, the perfect house, and the perfect kids,” Hammer explained. “I was like, ‘I feel like an alien.’ I liked pictures of rope bondage on my Twitter. It was like I was whistling at it, if you will, and wanted to be caught. People would say, ‘I don’t think he knows his Twitter likes are public.’ I saw it and I was like, ‘I know.'”
Hammer responded to the public backlash against his alleged direct messages, saying his conversations were taken out of context.
He said: “If someone took someone’s bedroom conversations, specifically if people were having a bit of a sexy time, and took what they said, even if it was completely vanilla, and you read it somewhere else out of context, I’m all going to say, ‘You’re disgusting.’ ‘”
Hammer also admitted to fantasizing about rope bondage, explaining, “I like the idea of you being all mine. I can do whatever you want and you love it because you know you’re mine. This ownership is such a thing.”
“It’s just fun to talk about… especially if you’re drunk, stoned or high at night texting and laughing at yourself,” he added. “Like, ‘I’m going to cut off your toe and keep it in my pocket so I’ll have a piece of you everywhere I go.’ Ha ha ha.’ Then it will be read in the court of public opinion and everyone will say, ‘You’re crazy’.”
