Much of the buzz surrounding DC Studios has fans looking forward to (or in this case up) for Superman‘s return to the silver screen this July, weekly viewers of James Gunn’s adult animated series Creature commandos They just got their first look at Batman.
In the sixth episode Creature commandosCalled “Priyatel Skeleton”, we are Creature Commandos member Dr. We study the origin of Phosporous. The episode opens with Gotham’s skyline, like an orchestral fanfare Batman: The Animated Seriesand a reference shot of a stone gargoyle overlooking the city that sets the scene for the Dark Knight’s presence throughout the episode through iconography and leitmotifs. In the same vein as the previous episodes, rubber-banding from the past to the present, reining in the history of characters like Bride, GI Robot, Weaseland Frankenstein, beyond his first impressions as C-level villains, “Priyatel Skeleton” tells how Alexander James Sartorius went from being a scientist forced to work with the mob to becoming the nuclear skeleton he is today.
Midway through the episode, it is revealed that the treatment, which originally began as nuclear fusion therapy to cure cancer, became the torture method the mob inflicted on Sartorius after his wife was killed. After his survival The Fly– private atomization, Dr. Phopherous gets his revenge on the mob and becomes the head honcho in Gotham. That is, until their Russian folk dance party is cut short by Batman’s silhouette illuminated by lightning in the hatch of their nightclub.
Unfortunately, the blue lightning bolt on Batman’s imposing frame doesn’t give us the meaty details of what his costume design would look like. talking to Rotten TomatoesGunn revealed that we only got a glimpse of Batman in the last episode Creature commandos because he wasn’t quite ready to take on the costume design of the heroine.
“When they first showed me the episode, there was more Batman,” Gunn told Rotten Tomatoes. “And I said, ‘I’m not ready for that… more silhouettes!’

The seventh and final chapter Creature commandos‘ premieres on January 9 on HBO and HBO Max. The show has been renewed for a second season.
