Phil Collins Family Guide: Meet His 5 Children, More

Phil Collins is an eight-time Grammy Award-winning drummer and singer, best known for his solo career and stints with the English rock band Genesis, but his entire family has found ways to make a name for themselves in entertainment as well.

Phil has five children, with his first wife he shares an adopted daughter, Joely Collins, and a son, Simon, Andrea Bertorellidaughter Lily with second wife Jill Tavelmanand sons Nic and Matthew s third wife Orianne Cevey. All five have had careers in music, acting or sports.

After decades behind the drum kit, Phil revealed in a December 2024 documentary Phil Collins: Drummer One that his health would prevent him from performing on the drums. Meanwhile, his family is sticking by him as he copes with the “shock” of the physical toll his drumming career has taken.

Nicolas Collins, Phil’s second son, helped produce a documentary detailing the injuries that came as a result of Phil’s performance.

“Musicians, people in bands in general thought they were invincible,” Nic explained in the film. “I think that’s really the thing with my dad, it’s just that feeling of being a drummer, being invincible, doing what you do. But you don’t know it’s going to take a toll in the long run.”

Nic himself continued the family drumming tradition, even performing with his father on tour with Genesis (Phil continues to perform as the band’s lead singer).

June Collins

Phil’s mother, Junewas an agent who was instrumental in discovering English actors Jack Wild (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) a Keith Chegwin (shaun of the dead). She died in 2011 at the age of 98.

Greville Collins

Phil’s father, Grevillewas an agent of the London Assurance Company. As Phil wrote in his 2016 memoir, Not dead yetnot a “particularly obvious heartthrob or ladies man”, he joked that he “obviously” got his looks from his mother. Greville died in 1972 at the age of 65.

Clive Collins

Phil’s brother, Clivewas a cartoonist, satirist and illustrator who appeared in publications from Reader’s Digest on Playboy.

In 2012, he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

“He won cartoonist of the year.” When we were boys, I shared a bedroom with him and he was always drawing,” Phil recalled at the ceremony. “He made Christmas cards and birthday cards for the family.”

Clive died in 2022 aged 80.

Carole Collins

Phil’s sister, Carolwas a professional skater before following in his mother’s footsteps and becoming an agent.

Lily Collins

Lily she started out as an actress at the age of 2 in a BBC sitcom Growing pains. She later appeared in such films as The blind side and Heritage before landing her breakthrough role as the title character in the hit Netflix series Emily in Pariswhich premiered in 2020.

Lily opened up about her strained relationship with her father growing up in his 2017 memoir, Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me.

“Because my dad was away a lot, I never wanted to do anything to make him stay away any longer,” she wrote. “I was more careful about what I said and how I said it, I was afraid he would think I was mad or that I didn’t love him.” And the truth is, I was angry. I missed him and wanted him there.”

The two of you today share a closer bond. On Father’s Day 2024, Lily wrote a heartfelt message to her father via Instagram.

“Sending you more hugs than ever and I’m thankful for you today and every day,” she wrote. “My words won’t do it justice, but… you know. I love you to the moon and back.”

Joel Collins

Phil legally adopted daughter Joely when he married Bertorelli in 1975.

She studied acting in her home city of Vancouver and in London and has appeared in many films and television shows. She won Best Actress in a Canadian Film at the 2004 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards for her role in a Canadian drama. Crimes of Love by Gillian Guess.

She got married Stefan Buitelaar in 2008, and the couple share a daughter, Zoë Amelie.

Zoe Amelia

Phil’s only grandchild, Zoë, was born in 2009.

“Life went to a new level for me,” Phil said when she was born Daily Mail. “I’m absolutely thrilled and so happy for Joely and Stefan. They’re really happy.”

Simon Collins

Like his dad, Simon is a drummer and former lead singer of the prog rock band Sound of Contact.

Simon has released four studio albums, including 2008’s U-disasterfeaturing both Phil and former Genesis member Steve Hackett each on one track.

Nicholas Collins

Nic has been drumming since he was two years old. By the time he was 15, he was playing on stage with his father Not dead yet tour. In 2023, his band The Effect released their debut single “Unwanted”. Function Effect Trev Lukatherson of guitarist Toto Steve Lukather.

Matthew Collins

Matthew is a budding footballer, currently playing for Austrian club WSG Tirol. After Matthew grabbed the headlines in a 3-0 loss to Harry Kane’with Bayern Munich, his coach Manuel Ludwig they admitted that they signed him without knowing who his father was.

“We look up the players we take to trial to find out their past careers,” he said Daily Mail. “Only then did we find out Matthew was Phil Collins’ son… We didn’t sign him as a publicity stunt.” It’s purely down to his football ability.”

Phil himself admitted that while Matt loves music, he “loves (football) even more.
