Pro-ISIS group called on Muslims to carry out attacks on New Year’s before the New Orleans massacre


A driver killed 10 people and injured dozens more after crashing a van displaying an ISIS flag into a crowd celebrating the New Year. Bourbon Street in New Orleansjust days after a pro-ISIS outlet called on Muslims to wage Islamic jihad in the United States, Europe and Russia.

The tragic event occurred around 3:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day and the FBI identified the driver as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar of Texas.

Police said the suspect died after jumping out of his truck and exchanging gunfire with responding officers.

The FBI told reporters Wednesday that a ISIL flag was located on the vehicle’s trailer hitch, adding that the FBI is working to determine Din Jabbar’s possible associations and affiliations with the terrorist organization.

On Sunday, a pro-ISIS outlet took to Telegram and called on Muslims living in the United States, Europe and Russia to carry out attacks on New Year’s Eve.

“O monotheists in Europe, America, Russia and other crusader lands, we know that you are eager to join your brothers in the land of Jihad, but the paths have been cut off for you,” a translated version of the post read. . “The crusaders are among you. Their security has been extended and your brothers are being murdered.

The attack in New Orleans comes nearly two weeks after an alleged terrorist attack at a Christmas market in Germany.
