Andrew Garfield gets Spider-Man 4 denial early

Although Andrew Garfield was in it Spider-Man: No Way Home, he was forced to deny. That’s why he says he’s not in the upcoming series, which will be released in 2026, and doesn’t really carry much weight.

“I will disappoint you” Garfield GQ said when asked if he signed on for the upcoming fourth Tom Holland Spider man. “Yes, no. But I know that no one will believe what I say from now on.” This strange choice of words brings us back to 2021, One of Garfield’s repeated questions about its appearance No Way Home. “Listen, I can’t speak for anyone but myself,” the actor said at the time. “They might do something, but I don’t get calls.” Of course, we now know that Garfield not only made the call, he played a major role in the film. He just became so secretive that he had to lie to protect the secret.

This time, we think his statement is a little more authoritative. Little is known officially beyond the release date of the sequel (July 24, 2026), about its director (Destin Daniel Cretton) and stars (Tom Holland and Zendaya, for starters). Producer Amy Pascal also confirmed that the story will continue from the end of the last film, where Peter Parker (Holland) made the world forget him in order to save him. So we guess we’ll meet Peter Parker still as Spider-Man in a world where no one knows who Peter Parker is or that he’s Spider-Man. Which is a very blank slate.

Could this story remain grounded in or around New York? Of course. Could this be another giant multiversal adventure? Absolutely. If it’s the latter, could this mean Peter Parker reunites with his multifaceted friends Peter Two (Tobey Maguire) and Peter Three (Garfield)? Of course. But we just have a feeling that when it happens — if not when — it’ll be a little later. Like maybe Avengers: Secret Warscomes out next summer.

Whether or not that happens, Garfield won’t be able to tell.
