Regis Prograis believes Devin Haney is not finished, but says he will not defeat Ryan Garcia. He recommends that Haney not accept the rematch with Kingry unless he is simply “trying to withdraw money.”
It would be crazy for Devin to fight Garcia again without at least a tune-up to rebuild and see where he is at. neurologically. Kingry had Haney all over him, knocking him down six times in their fight last April, although the referee counted only three of them. The popular Southern California native hurt Devin whenever he wanted, and it seemed too easy.
If Dev tunes up against a soft hitter, he’ll find out if he can still hit a decent headshot without hitting the face cover first. He can regain some of the self-confidence he might have lost that night against Garcia at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Haney’s decision to sit out for a year during Ryan’s suspension has many fans believing he is holding off on Ryan before fighting again. Is Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) waiting for Garcia to get that lucrative rematch, or does he want him to take some time off after the beating he took in his 12-round majority decision loss on April 20?
If Haney is afraid of whether he can handle being hit by even a scribe, it makes sense for him to remain inactive and wait for Kingry’s one-year suspension to end in April. The last thing Devin needs is to get knocked out by some unknown Ham & Egger and miss the rematch with Garcia forever.
“He’s not shot, but I don’t think he’s going to beat Ryan,” Regis Prograis told YSM Sports Media about Devin Haney fighting a rematch against Ryan Garcia. “Ryan beat his ass, and that will always be there. No matter what Bill says, it will always be in the back of his mind. “Damn, he really beat me.”
“I don’t think they are, and I don’t think they should fight Ryan next. I think they should do a tune-up to see how he (Haney) does and then go from there. The only way they would do that (fight Ryan next) is if they are trying to cash in and get a huge amount of money,” Prograis said.
Commitment to greatness requires responsibility. Devin Haney continues to set the standard as a clean, proven and proud champion. 365/24/7
