Trump nominates attorney Stanley Woodward to White House role By Reuters


WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Donald Trump on Saturday named Stanley Woodward (NASDAQ:), the attorney who has defended several of the president’s top aides and associates as well as people charged in the January 6, 2021 attack, is joining his White House legal team.

Trump’s transition team said in a statement that Woodward will serve as the president’s assistant and senior adviser, and will work closely with Trump’s White House chief of staff, formerly known as Susie Wiles.

Mr. Trump last month tapped David Warrington as his lead attorney for the White House legal team, reversing his earlier selection of William McGinley, who moved to work with an outside team. led by billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump is scheduled to begin on January 20.

Woodward, who lives in Washington, has represented many people around Trump over the years, including adviser Dan Scavino, business adviser Peter Navarro and aide Walt Nauta.

He is also representing other defendants accused in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, including Oath Keeper Kelly Meggs.

Trump also said three aides who worked in his first White House term will return: Robert Gabriel, Nicholas Luna and William “Beau” Harrison.
