After nine years in office, Justin Trudeau resigned amid growing pressure from within and outside his party, saying Canada deserves a “real choice” in the next election.

Acknowledging the internal battles, he recognized that he was no longer the best option for Canadians.

Trudeau said he will remain prime minister until a new Liberal Party leader is elected.
