At CES 2025, Anker unveiled the first solar umbrella designed to charge electronic devices like refrigerators or phones while outdoors. The new umbrella is part of Anker’s SOLIX line, which includes energy-saving products like portable power stations and solar generators designed to power household appliances during power outages and emergencies.
While there are many solar-powered beach umbrellas on the market, Anker’s product stands out because it uses perovskite solar cells. According to the company, these cells offer 30% better performance than traditional crystalline silicon solar cells in bright light and double the efficiency in low light. As with any solar-powered device, these umbrellas can help reduce pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It’s also a handy addition to your beach day packing list.
Anker announced this umbrella at CES 2025 along with a number of other new products, including the second generation of its EverFrost electric refrigerator and a karaoke speaker with artificial intelligence. The company is likely hoping that customers will view the umbrella as an additional accessory for their e-cooler, as it can be attached to the cooler to power it up. Alternatively, it can be installed with an independent base.
The umbrella delivers 80 watts of power to portable devices via USB-C. It can also power the EverFrost 2 or other compatible devices using the XT-60 connector, which connects battery to motor or other electronics power.
Anker hasn’t announced pricing for the umbrella, but it’s expected to go on sale in the spring or summer.
