Austen Kroll from Southern Charm, the ups and downs of Craig Conover

During the 10th season premiere Southern charmwhich aired in December 2024, Conover and Kroll had a heart-to-heart with Rose about his drinking problems. (Rose dropped out of BravoCon in the fall of 2023, causing tension between him and his brothers.)

While the trio left the conversation as friends, Kroll admitted that he “totally disagrees with how Craig can set boundaries, which is just a tough cut.”

As the season went on, Kroll and Conover butted heads. Kroll claimed during January 2, 2025, episode that Conover’s work is all he cares about. “I miss my friend. That’s where I come to you,” Kroll told Conover, claiming that when he asks him to lunch, Conover always has an excuse not to come.

Kroll said that when Conover “went out golfing” with him — and instead spent time gardening and then posted about it on social media — he felt it was a “move” and that he “saved the friendship.”

Conover revealed, “That’s what makes me happy right now. Working and making money.” He argued that they’re good because they see themselves doing their podcast. “If you’re a real friend, you’d be happy (for me),” Conover added.

Kroll claimed he was fine with Conover no longer drinking or going to bars, but claimed Conover wouldn’t even come to his house. “I would never tell you how to live your life,” Conover yelled.

“I understand that times are changing,” Kroll told the cameras. “I just feel like you keep the friends you were with when you’re starting to flourish, those are the friends you’re closest to.
