Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are finalizing their divorce

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleckthe marriage is officially over.

The couple settled for divorce on Monday, January 6, according to documents obtained My Weekly. The news comes 20 weeks after Lopez filed for annulment on August 20, 2024.

The relationship between Lopez and Affleck (52) is more than 20 years old. Lopez and Affleck met on set Lily in 2001 and became engaged in November 2002. They were originally supposed to marry in September 2003, but called off their wedding days before the planned ceremony and confirmed their separation in January 2004.

The two reunited in May 2021 and became engaged again in April 2022. They tied the knot in July in Las Vegas and had a second ceremony in Georgia the following month.

In May 2024, there was speculation about the state of Lopez and Affleck’s marriage after they were not seen together for 47 days. My Weekly they confirmed this later that month Affleck moved out of their home in Beverly Hills.

A source said exclusively Our in June that they couldn’t “get on the same page (and they were). divorce proceedings as a possibility.”

The following month, a second insider claimed he did “Sliver of Hope” for reconciliation.

“There are as many individuals as a couple coming through,” said a third source Our. “It may take them a while to figure out if this complicated moment can resolve itself and come back to each other (as) better people.”

Lopez eventually filed for divorce from Affleck in August, listing April 26 as theirs date of separation. Instead of using a lawyer, she filed the papers herself two year anniversary from the duo’s wedding in Georgia.

According to insiders, the filing date was no accident. “The timing of divorce you were a big fk for Ben,” the source said Our in August.

Despite the sting, the celebrity divorce lawyer Chris Melcher speculated in an August interview with Our that Lopez’s decision to file suit without an attorney recording was “intended to send a message that it was not going to be a fight”. Melcher opined that the pair had probably already “worked out most of (the) issues before going public with the filing.

Lopez was previously married Ojani Noah in the years 1997 to 1998, Chris Judd in the years 2001 to 2003 and Marc Anthony — with whom he shares twins Max and Emma — from 2004 to 2014. Affleck was married again Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018 and have three children together, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
